Default Lovenpain's Projects:

Well the first mod I did was upgraded my low beams bulbs. I originally bought 25k bulbs 35w. Instead was sent 30k bulbs @ 55w. So... I didn't complain. Lol
But since I have been using them. My passenger side light, once warmed up, would keep shutting off. And I would have to constantly turn my lights off and back on. Then it would do this again after 5 mintues or 3 minutes. Thought it mit have been a bad build or my ballast was going out. So when I ordered 55w slim ballasts. Then I had ordered the d2s connectors. When I redid the system I check to make sure the oem ballast worked fine with the oem bulb. Which it did. Then rigged up the new system and made it a true 55w hid setup. Now my lights don't go off and my low beams are sooooo bright. But I reduce the light output by tinting the headlight with my custom smoke vinyl overlay kit. So now they work and look great! IMO there is a huge difference between having a 35w setup or a 55w setup.
Here's a few shots of my upgrade.
The removal of my front end.

As you can see here the huge difference in size comparison with both oem and aftermarket ballast.

Mounting the new ballast to the headlight.

Used a peice of foam and double sided tape to cover the hole that was left from removing the oem ballast.

Punched a hole out for the wires.

Applied the double sided tape. As you could tell from the last pic that I made an impression in the foam to help it seal it better.

Then applied the double sided tape to close the hole up. Turned out great in the end!

Will be listing up a list of left over parts in the classifieds. Figure I make some money back from what was spent.

lol "upgrade"...4500k is where its at. anything higher is decreasing in light output, and im pretty sure oem ballast > whatever the f@#k your doing with the styrofoam and yea.. i have 6k bulbs with oem ballast and i like the whiter than oem look. i do have to agree though that 55watt does make a difference..out of curiosity isnt 30k straight purple?!

TURRIBLE.

55w bulb plugged into a 35w ballast: fail.
Chunk of styrofoam taped to your headlights: LOL.
30k bulbs: Failing like a boss.

^LOL.

Not to mention 55W powered bulbs generate a lot of heat, hopefully the internal parts of the headlight won't distort or damage from it running so hot.

Well well, now I see some true colors. Lol. Well the wires were upgraded gauge to handle the heat. And the brightest I think is better for me. And the color is deep blue for you information. Like it or not I installed the foam only solution to keep moisture out and when I was the car. Sorry it disappoints some of you. But I knew e entually the haters would come out of the crowd. Lol

30k? Seriously? You do realize the higher the twemp the less light you are actually getting right?
