Well sorry you don't like this topic, like I previously posted, I knew some thongs people won't like. About slowing down. I have been working on and customizing cars for years. Can sell things if I dont have anything done to my car. Also, I do understand the styrofoam wasn't the greatest idea, but saw no, one post any other solution to the effect. So wha my light are dark blue, so it's not your car. And way to many people I have all ready sold pieces and kits I have invented or made for my car. But hey it's your opinions, won't stop me. At least I don't have a shopping cart wing, a half ass done car, dumped ridculous money on a heavy ass stereo system. Not saying all those are particularly bad things, but I already seen some crap on here that I try not to be so judemental. So, I pay for my membership, and I will continue to post and share my ideas. I have not slammed any of you for anything you post or done. Not one negative comment has came from me yet! But thanks for viewing my topic. And I don't think I do things better or 100% perfect in the way I do it. Trust me, some that have met me in person. I show curiousity, and always learning more about these cars every day. So, it's all good guys!

Why does that surpise you? How many volts do you think it takes to power up an hid?
Here is a standard ballast specs :

Description:
Input voltage 12v 24v output power 25w 35w 50w

Output voltage ac 85v

* work temperature40~105
*Luminous flux: 2500~3500 lumen( decided by color temperature ,the higher the temperature .the lower the lumen)
* Instant ignition voltage: 23000v~25000v
* Anti-electromagnetism disturb: reach S95/54/EC standard
* Output voltage frequency: 250HZ
* High voltage interior integration design
* Open circuit protection: automatic protection in 1s
* Shorti circuit protection : automatic protection in 3s
*Function of waterproof, dustproof, anti-vibration
* Protection of less or over voltage
* Protection of anti-electromagnetism
* Constant power designed , more applicable to bulbs,Improve the life of light bulbs over 50%

The ballast is a super slim design. Way better than stock specifications IMO. Whether I run a 55w bulb vs 35w is a matter of preference. So it should be no surprise you see 23k volts. HIDs require a lot of power anyways. At least when I get a set of ap2 head lights I won't have to worry about whether my ballast is gonna work. It won't matter. Not seen how the ap2 lights have their ballast mounted. Wonder if there's a hold like the ap1's have? I am sure some of you known the answer to that.

I'm not sure this is an "upgrade"

my only comment is that with the combination of heat from the hotter running bulb and tint on your headlight lenses it's only a matter of time before they crack.

The head light lens cracking? Really? So how many cars you seen that happen to? You would think if any company that makes hid ballast would or might has some sort of disclaimer or something, right? Well, if you like the oem ballast a lot then you are more welcome to buy mine. I really don't care whether my new ones were made in Mexico I still like them. Lol man, I wondered if I just simply upgraded to an 35w system if I would have gotten this kind of reaction. I have seen plenty of members upgrade their head lights. Whether it was 35w or whatever. Didn't see any comments about how terrible the system was, oh cause they are made from china, omg 23k volts... Lol really guys? I can agree the styrofoam idea wasn't great. And have plans to replace them with a rubber type boot I just obtained. But to have comment against the slim ballast. My oem are absolutely fine, as well as the bulbs. If someone wants them pm me. I be happy to get rid of the boat anchors. ya know I am going to lower the price of them just so I can be rid of them. Thanks you all for comments. And until my car burns up in to giant fireball I think I will then reconsider changing my current ballasts out. Lmfao.

Ps. If they do end up CRACKing..lol it would be a better reason then to upgrade to the ap2 headlight. I'll just pay my deductible based on a mechanical malfunction and make my insurance buy me a new set. so like i said previously guys, it's all good!

That might be insurance fraud, but who knows

I would look at the styrofoam situation ASAP (I know you said you are in the process of devising something better). I had a problem with water getting into one of my headlights and the ballast shorting out, and it was due to just a worn out rubber seal between the ballast and the headlight.

Well it's kind of complicated actually. But I will try my best to help you out. First you go to your local walmart or any store that might sell office supplies. Then you go look for a pair of scissors. You want make sure you take them to a register and pay for them. Otherwise you would be steeling! So, once you get to your domicile, place of residence, car board box in the alley, or whatever you call home. Look for some styrofoam. I am sure you probably have laying around your home. Here comes the hard part! But bare with me. I am going to try my hardest to explain this in simple words. You first probably want to get the pair of scissors you bought out of it's packaging. It might get tricky, but I am have faith in you that you can do this! . After you have removed the pair of scissors out of it's packaging. You try to figure out what shape you might want to cut out. I am sure this will take you back in time. Remember when your where in grade school and that showed how to identify shapes? Such as triangles, circles, octagons and such. Well, feel free to pick out a shape. Go ahead give it a shot! Once you have made your decision, insert your fingers through the holes of the scissors. Now, if your gonna ask me what fingers that I would recommend... Well.. Let's just be creative! Ok? So, once you decided what fingers to use, be extremely..and I mean this with extreme caution! Be really careful not to cut yourself!! Wouldn't want anything bad to happen! Then cut out the shape you decided to cut. And there you go! Not sure what your going to use styrofoam on a geo metro. But whatever the situation is, I am sure it would be a better improvement on the POS. I do hope this answered your question. And by chance you have any more questions like that.. Gosh darn, I would be so happy to help you ought! Cause I got plenty more answers for ya! Have a splendid time modding! Lol
