thanks for the info treimche - one further question is on the 2 pin plug from the ballast. presumably you must have cut this off, or bought a new one, and attached the two bare DDM Saber wires to this so that you can plug into the socket from the battery. was this easy as looking at mine the plug looks to be a sealed unit?
I have a friend who is a Honda tech, so he had a big box of old Honda wiring harnesses. I scored 2 OEM Honda plugs with wires that plugged into the stock wiring, so I used those and didn't have to modify any of the factory wiring. This winter I'll have the bumper and headlights off of the car again, so I'll be sure and get some good pics.
I replaced my OEM bulbs with Philips CrystalVision 5000k bulbs and I love them. they are a pure white and the output is similar to oem. I know 4300K is usually your best light output, but these seem very similar just in a pure white color instead of warm white. Just a suggestion if people were more interested in changing the color to a pure white, which is the reason I didn't stick with OEM bulbs and didn't have to mess/worry about an LED conversion. It's also the same manufacturer as the OEM bulbs so it basically is OEM quality, it is kinda pricey, but worth it imo.

Philips and Osram are OE manufacturer of HID's. Our projector are designed to accept the light from a HID, and fit the dimensions of a HID bulb. Why anyone wants to put in a set of LED into our HID-SPECIFIC projectors is beyond me.
Not to mention, LED are not as luminous as HID's. The only advantage of CURRENT LED's are the smaller driver size compared to HID's ballasts. But that's a non-factor because our headlight housing was designed with the bulky ballast in mind.
two, the S2k projector is regarded by the majority of HIDplanet.com users as ONE OF THE BEST low beam only projectors ever made. Honda made them worse with a fresnel lens in later cars.
three, jaor.s2k's s2k is beautiful. and phillips and osram are OE suppliers, make great bulbs.
four, morimoto and TRS are great places to get all these things.

It was probably regulations related. The intense blue/purple flickering at the cutoff while being gorgeous for the owner, it is a distraction for other drivers. The revised lenses reduced the razor sharp cutoff and took away some of the colors.
As much as I like HID's , I just installed a set of LED lights on my 2000 Acura Integra. Even with the best halogen bulbs my Integra's projectors didn't put enough light on the road for my liking. I went with xenonhid.com LED lights, they look like decent quality, 40 w bulbs with dual lights per bulb I believe. I just threw them on tonight, and initial report is that they are much whiter in colour which is nice, they appear to be brighter too. I just don't know about the cut-off or scattered light detail as it was raining out tonight and I didn't want to take the car out of the garage. I'll check it over the weekend.

And as an alternative to a shitty DDM HID kit ($30 or whatever) the LED drop-ins are definitely nicer if you're putting them into a HALOGEN housing.

But if you want different colors there's plenty of temp HID bulbs to swap to....And replacement ballasts etc can be found cheap second-hand. I understand tech has advanced and LED bulbs are getting better, and there's newer HID systems out there...but the stock s2000 setup is still VERY good. I've owned many newer cars with HID, factory LED lights, etc and the s2000 is probably one of the best in the lighting department.

I agree. I got my 2016 Civic Touring coupe with LED factory lamps which looked amazing, very white and very bright, but my S2000 put better light down to the road with the factory HID, especially in the rain. I would never swap the S2000 factory lights with and LED kit. The Integra factory projectors don't work so great with halogens IMO, so they are good candidates for alternative lamps, I didn't go with the HID's as I didn't want to mess with ballasts and trying to find space to mount them, the LED are simply easier to install and appear to be an upgrade over stock for the integra. I would not waste my time altering the s2000 lights.

At the moment, HID (mature technology) is still superior than LED (in its infancy). But regardless...
Your S2000 headlight assembly was designed with the dimensions AND output of a HID bulb. Why people are going to LED's for their S2000 is beyond me.
If you had halogens and you want to upgrade to LED for an easier installation other benefits of LED's, sure. But if you had THE BEST HID assembly from factory, why would you swap in LED's?
