Default Lowering Vtec on an AP1

Hey all I am trying to find some information on the most reasonable way to lower my Vtec engagement point on my AP1. I realize I need a tune, an intake, and exhaust. It being an AP1 what would be the most inexpensive way to get my AP1 tune-able for the lower vtec engagement?

Apexi neo or emanate. Talk with tuners in your area to see which they prefer. You will need either a test pipe or hfc. Test pipe is preferred. Intake and exhaust are optional really as oem performs close to most aftermarket stuff.

vafc 2. had one on my 01 for years and worked excellent with no problems. tuned to 13@wot and vtec engagement from 6200 to 5500. or go aem.

So say I have a q300 exhaust, and a test pipe with Vfac, would 5000 be too low of engagement point?

Nope, you could go lower with a test pipe. It will all depend on how the dyno plot looks like while tuning it though.

If you go the Apexi route, I would suggest the Neo over all other Apexi VAFC options.

I'd skip the vafc and just go with a stand alone setup. The vafc etc only pull fuel. You won't get much gains with them. Stand alone ecu you will get much better results. Granted NA gains are small regardless but much better than a vafc piggy back tune.
With a test pipe vtec is usually lowered down to around 4k.
