Modding My 2005
test pipe = most gains per $$ ~8hp??
intake = easy gains in all the right places ~ up to 8hp with the right one
exhaust = limited gains, opportunity to save weight, chance to make car sound a little better ~ 0-4hp gain depending on system

the test pipe is the most "bang for the buck", but 8hp? I'm pretty sure you won't get that much out of it. But for $100 or less, you definitely can't beat it.
I used to have a Chrysler Crossfire, and I know a lot of guys who bought the Borla exhaust for that car, then welded the stock tips back on. It looked completely OEM, but the sound was unreal. I haven't heard the Borla system on an S2000, but I'm pretty sure with the right tools, you can get your stock tips on anything!

And a good 70mm single exhaust can get up to 12whp.
Although your right about the test pipe. Most hp per $. 7whp gain right here.

I would say yes, a single or invida v3 would yeild better gains.
I'm pretty sure that Borla exhaust isn't gonna get you any more power, either. It's a 60mm dual, so it might shed some weight (being fully stainless) and will sound nice, but that's it.
Thanks for all the responses. I think I will stick with the K & N FPIK and High flow cat. I dont want CEL issue or a smelly car otherwise I would get a test pipe.
I will wait on the borla until I see proof it doesn't cause a loss in power.
These two relatively inexpensive mods should make the car breathe a little easier.
I was also planning on using eibach pro-kit springs simply for a better look. Anyone have reviews on these springs?

definitely K&N FPIK ftw. also a high flow cat will free up a few ponies. There arent really too many dual exhausts out that make any noticable gains. One i know of that makes gains is the T1R Sparrow. They have a new version coming out that has the "dolphin" blue style tips and is designed to be quiet.
