Default More power without an EMS?

Is there anything i can do for more power without adding a EMS? Is nitrous my only option here?

I live in NY and i need OBD2 compliance so my only option for EMS would be hondata and that's going to run me 2100- and then a tune, pretty price before you even start putting more power on. That's if i install it myself which i am more than capable of, a local shop quoted me between 700-1000, to swap it in and swap all the sensors.

Help me out here guys

Superchargers don't require an EMS man. Supercharger kits for the S come with an FMU and such to adjust for the extra fuel you need to run the supercharger safely. You can get an EMS to get the best power out of it and be safer, but you don't "have" to as long as you keep the stock pulley and stuff on it.

You can run any standalone as a piggyback to gain full control of the engine and retain OBDII compliance. Any tuner worth his salt should be able to install and tune it for you. The nice thing about the S2000 is that its a simple 4 cylinder engine, so you can use a basic standalone like the new AEM EMS 4 or Haltech Sprint 500 with sequential injection. Both of those ECUs are less than $1000 and are great for what they are.

Lol... as mentioned before you can use a FMU on top of your stock ECU and retain ODB functions. If you are dead set on keeping ODB and you want more power for early model S2000s you don't have many options. You could spend thousands of dollars on bolt-ons with no tune and get maybe 10HP, or you could "waste" a supercharger and get about 100HP for not much more money.

From everything i have read and been told a supercharger with a piggyback will not pass NYS inspection. NYS inspection is my MAIN Concern. I can get around the visuals, but i cannot beat the obd2
