...More on Shift Knobs
I guess shift knobs is something cheap enough to purchase and switch out every once in a while. What this ends up looking like is having a pretty good collection of knobs. I just thought I'd piggyback off of my original blox review thread HERE and give you a little more insight and specs for the knobs I've tried over the last year or two.

1) The first on this list is the OEM Ap1(?) Aluminum knob. Feels good! I got it after the Blox 490g, but in its oem form, compared to the Blox, it sits higher on the shifter assembly which coincidentally makes the blox knob feel "countersunk", but it's not. I was, however, able to "Countersink" the Ap1 knob, with 2 drill bits, and a tap just a few minutes ago. It looks and feels much better now. *see attached picture. Basically all you do, is drill down farther, tap it farther, and then drill a taper into the inside of the base. And then retap/clean just in case.
2) The next 3 on the list are review in the other the link.
3) The TSP knobs are ebay replicas of the Spoon TI knob, just made of steel. At the rate of which I like to try new knobs, there is NO WAY I was going to spend more than 100 bucks on a shift knob. I understand why you guys do it, but I personally won't. I was really stoked when I saw the replica knobs, because I've always wanted to try a "barrel" shaped knob. I received it today. It's fairly true to the size description, but it looks oddly small. I wonder how it'll feel, if not, too tiny in my hands. We'll see. It's slightly shorter than the key remote, and just a little wider and weighs about the same.
It's also also a little concerning how the threads only go in about 1 centimeter with it being a hollow knob. Pictures are attached.
4) Vision (VMS) is also an ebay replica of every round knob out there. It's lighter than the Blox 490g, and I liked that. I feel heavy knobs really damp the input between driver and transmission, so I picked this one up. It was cheap, and originally a brushed gunmetal color. I went ahead and sanded it down and polished. They may have this finish available from the get-go. Unfortunately, this knob has a little ledge on the bottom, and that bothered me enough to get swap the newly countersunk Ap1 knob back in. the bottom of the VMS was it's original color, it was difficult to polish that part so I just left it. But it's that little ledge that drove me crazy.
5) The mugen stick knob sucks. It looks slightly awkward to me, so that was gone in the matter of a couple days.

Yes, I found it too skinny to be comfortable. too stick-like to be held in different ways, and not long enough for "drifter status". I'm sure others may find it better, however my personal favorite so far is the OEM, or round knobs.
^^ I agree with you, a buddy of mine had that knob a few years back and when I drove his car I HATED it with a passion. I must've asked him a dozen times how he could drive with that cheap feeling POS of a knob after getting out of his car. God I hated that shift knob.
