Does that red extension really works?
The red part is just a coupler to mate the velocity stack to the FIPK pipe. The velocity stack is what adds a little length. Here are some comparison pictures.

Everyone has their preference. As I already stated the Comptech was my second intake and the Mugen is my current. If money isn't an issue go get a Mugen. Best bang for $ get a Comptech or K&N. I just like changing it around every year or so, keeps me busy.

Better is really quite subjective. I don't think anyone out there can provide proof of any intake making more than 3-4hp. Mostly when you buy an intake for an S2k you are buying it for asthetics and sound. You probably gain more by losing the weight of the OEM box than actual power gains. I think the Mugen requires that you cut some of the bracing on your hood if you're running an OEM hood, and without a Mugen bumper the snorkel probably isn't very effective.

I really think that the Comptech and FIPK are pretty much equal. Performance and sound is very similar. The FIPK is cheaper, and the Comptech looks better.
