Mods are never an investment, always just an expense. If the Porsche is in reach within a year I'd use the money to move up that timetable. You'll be in a different world with the Cayman finding yourself eating at better restaurants and dating women of sublime beauty.

So long as the maintenance and insurance doesn't eat you alive.

That is a good point. On one hand I do like having a fun cheap car, on the other hand I do like sublime beauty. Choices...

As mister said, mods are pretty much a 'throwing away of money.' If you plan on keeping the S, mod away. Otherwise, save up what you can and sell the S as stock. More buyers will want a stock S as opposed to one that is modded, be it lightly or heavy.

If you decide to keep the S, then mod away. Look at the different threads in regards to mods and how to DIY. DIY for the stereo is something that you can do. Look for localowners in your area who have either done it and can help, can just help and for those who can help and provide a space to work within.

If you were by me, I would offer my garage and tools and help. I'm sure there are owners in your area who are also willing. Check your local subforum.

That being said...go for the Cayman. It seems you really want that vehicle and it would be a different car overall compared to the S.

As for me, I'm keeping my S long term. I have no plans to sell it at anytime and am just working through my own schedule to mod as I want.

Either way, have fun and enjoy whichever car you have!
