Dynamat and other sound deadeners?
I am getting ready to order the Kenwood 3-ways front and rear from Lucid soon and I was curious about whether any of the rest of you have applied sound deadeners when doing your audio upgrades. The door already resonates a bit with the stock speakers, I can imagine it will get worse with the new speakers. And that back panel is a pretty flimsy piece of plastic to hold the rears solidly. Any feedback appreciated.
Been there, done that. Not worth it IMO. If you have a hardtop, maybe. The doors are pretty solid, I imagine the "resonation" you're hearing is just distortion from the stock system.

jzr,
Thanks for the reply. I checked out your link and that does look like a lot of work. Your website says "well worth it" though and now here you are saying that it's not worth it. Do you mean the stereo upgrade is well worth it and the Dynamat is not? So you couldn't really tell any difference with the mat?

The stereo overall, not so much the Dynamat. In past cars I've noticed reduced road noise and improved sound with the Dynamat. It might have helped the sound a little, but not so much to be worth it. I think with a solid base for the speakers to work from (like the 3/4" MDF rings I made) you'll be fine. Maybe have some on hand to quiet any buzzes that pop up, but the whole door coating thing is unnecessary in my mind.
