Does anyone know where I can purchase (cheaply) a spare key and remote plip. Thanks

I only have one key and Lowes Hardware says that they can make a duplicate key for me. Their machine was broken and they said to come back in a week or so. Has anyone had success with using Lowes? They quoted me ~$60

I'll be shocked if Lowes can provide a S2000 key with the immobilizer chip. I believe the physical key blade pattern changed to double sided -- can put it in either way -- sometime ago so model year will be important sourcing a key. I've no doubt any locksmith or the Lowes robot can duplicate your physical key but without the chip it's just a decoration.

Honda dealer can do it for sure but be prepared for a shocking price. I did it back in 2014 and the new key and fob probably have less than a dozen uses and hang (like a decoration) on my key pegs near the garage door. But I've got a spare. I recall the fobs can be DIY copied but don't quote me.

Thanks, but I'm looking for someone that actually tried getting a key duplicated besides at a dealership.

Default Key fob

You can buy new key fob on Amazon. I did it & it works fine!

You last two guys are talking about fobs, not keys. I wish the keys were as easy as Amazon.

@geok2000 - I just posted a couple of weeks ago on how to get replacement remotes, immobilizer blanks, and how to program it. I just did that very thing recently for my 2001. You can see the post here:

Important distinction here is what model year is the car? Ap1 key is different from the ap2 key. Look for an actually locksmith or automotive key place over something like Lowe’s. I am pretty sure there is generics available for either model year but I think whatever you go with it has to be paired by a dealer. I think Honda even has cheaper options for a replacement key. The ap2 key with the sliver logo is the expensive one.

Ap2 key

Ap1 seems pricier but there is lots of info here about potential options. https://www.s2ki.com/forums/s2000-ta...1190399/page2/
