Any suggestions on how to securely attach the hardtop's rear quick-release latch bracket with the softtop completely removed?
My new OEM hardtop fit perfectly when I had my softtop installed, even with my Hard Dog roll bar. I used the hardtop's supplied rear latch bracket that bolts onto the softtop frame's "anchor plate" next to the motors. However, when removing the softtop frame the "anchor plate", part of the softtop assembly, is also removed. That takes away a lot of support for the rear latch bracket. There now are only 2 bolts holding the rear hardtop latch bracket to the car (there were 4 bolt when the softtop anchor plate is installed). I know about Izzy's permanent brackets, but I like the quick detach capabilities of the OEM rear latch.
I couldn't find this addressed using search or in the Hardtop threads. How did others solve this?
Use the CR's already detached soft top "anchor plate". Same piece as what's holding down the soft top only it doesn't have a soft top attached to it. Part #'s are 86121-S2A-A00 & 86171-S2A-A00 . I just recently installed these on my S after removing the soft top.
(Thanks to SlowS2k for pointing me in the right direction on those)
Spa AP1, thanks. That's actually what I thought I'd see when I removed the softtop frame from my '05, but found the frame permanently attached to the anchor plate. Just ordered them from Magestic Honda, will be good to go in time for my Laguna Seca weekend next month. Mahalo!
For more weight savings, I removed the all the brackets and have the side catchers holding on by the two forward bolts on each side
Just saw driven beat me to it lol on my phone I had it pulled up to reply but just got around to entering the text lol
