Default Pressure Plate

Do the pressure plates wear out, or how can you tell if the current one is still good? I know the disc is the part that will definitely wear out over time but have never really heard much in reguards to the PP. Can a machine shop test or refresh a presure plate?

Only issue that comes to mind is the friction surface on the plate getting heat spots and the wear. Outside of that I really havent heard anyone actually needing to replace the pp alone. Heard of people reusing them with no problems
