Default Custom FIPK Heat Shield

So i just got my FIPK today so i started taking measurments of the K&N shield. My goal is to make the shield totally enclosed when the hood is down, as well as make my heat shield more visually pleasing. It will also be made from aluminum instead of steel decreasing the weight a bit. Here are some pictures of the K&N heat shield and the model i have started to show my new design idea.

Thanks, I'll make a cardboard model today. Hopefully I will have time to test fit it.

Here is a quick comparison of the new rounded shape vs the original box.

Nice work, I really like the idea but how much bigger is that circle than the filter tho? It doesn't look too much bigger than the filter itself and I would worry about the impact on throttle response if there isn't room for enough air to get pulled in

You know that the stock FiPK box seals with the hoot right? Aluminum heats faster, and disperses heat faster than steel. If anything all your doing is increasing heat in the chamber...

The biggest OD of the filter is 6" and the OD i have the box at is 8" so there is an inch all the way around the filter. Do you think this could be an issue?

you want to leave to part off thats opposite of the filter. K&N left it off because air comes from the fender area into the box providing cooler air. But I like the look of the rounded bottom.
