Puddymod stage 1.5+ or just 4.77 Kia gears?
I am getting ready to do gears in the S.. I have a few questions..
Whats the part number for the Kia 4.77s that work in the S?
What other parts are needed?
How much does an average shop cost to swap the parts?
Should I get the puddymod stage 1.5 or go with just buying the Kia gears and having a shop do it?
NOTE: if you dont know what the stage 1.5 entails its this
Stage 1.5 is a rear that will have cryo treated hardware, and gears. The rear will also have a Heavy Duty (not stock) crush sleeve. The crush sleeve used in this rear is over 50 thousands heaver than a stock crush sleeve and will hold up much better than the stock unit.
This build starts at $900
Stage 1.5+ the plus will have cryo treated bearing caps and upgraded 10.9 hardwar for $50 extra over the standard 1.5
(Price shipped to me for all of this^ with polished gears was $1500 and I can return my stock for a $400 refund..)

You cant go wrong with Ben aka S2KPUDDYDAD builds... He is very helpful and when it comes to building a diff for the s2k he is by far the best to go to! I've had my stage 1.5 geared diff for a couple of months now and i couldnt be happier w/ it...You get a great product for a great price, backed up with alot of knowledge! PuddyMod diff FTW!!

Your trying to compare apples and oranges. A stock build with standard install and a out of the box set of gears to a...Cryo treated setup with polished gears also HD install parts used.....there is no comparison.....
I can build you a stock setup with 4.77 gears for $1,200 shipped and after a good core return $800 as a total cost this is a better apples to apples comparison to go by.

I just did the kia gears in my car and spent under $400. 257 for the gears and like 135 for a rebuild kit from honda. I love them so far, well see how long they last though. You will need the yellow box as well.

well it really depends on how you are going to use it. im really pushing the car. if ur not really beating on it then you really wont need the extra stuff.
