The quest for no exhaust drone
Hello all,
So I have the Greddy Spectrum Elite exhaust on my AP2 and it drones very badly. When I had a Berk Technology test pipe on the vehicle the exhaust was just way too loud (and stinky). Now, with the OEM cat back on, I am pounding my head every time I have to drive within 3k-3.6k rpm because of the head pounding booming drone!
Has anyone had experience with adding mufflers or resonators to aftermarket exhausts? I love the look and I really like the tone of the exhaust during most of my drives, it's just the damn drone that kills me. I wouldn't mind it being a bit quieter also.
So, am I doomed to buying a new exhaust or putting OEM on? Or, dare I try a frankenstein exhaust creation that, only, MIGHT reduce the drone. The volume of sound, in theory, will be reduced.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance
Best regards,
Ericson

cut the oem mufflers off and weld on a straight pipe., removes weight and sounds good.... the donkey dong in the stock system eliminates drone,,
if you want it louder run a berk hfc , when i had mine it would sound like a race car and pop on decel nicely

Well... You could try a gernpipe bolted up to your current exhaust as the gernpipe is a midpipe and would simply do away with the testpipe and midpipe portion of your exhaust. You would probably gain a few ponies while ditching some drone, the smell (integrated HFC) and you would more than likely keep your tone for the most part. You would be able to keep the same tips as well. However this route is rather costly. I would sy either that or see about installing another resonator in your current exhaust.
