Default Question for ya

I know its been discussed a lot around here and a lot of different opinions, but is there really any sort of HP gain from Intake,Header,Exhaust and Testpipe w/o a tune. Invidia header,K&N FIPK intake, Invidia N1 dual exhaust and the Invidia 70mm Testpipe. I've always like Invidia so thats my favorite brand But my question is really how much HP & TQ are we really getting from all of this. I've heard that there really isn't much to gain espically W/O a tune but for a 04 AP2 its gonna cost me an arm and a leg more for a Hondata tune and all of the extra parts Hondata wants you to upgrade to as well. I've read some posts where a guy would do I/H/E/TP OR HFC and a tune and only get like 9WHP or some guys even say like 20-35 WHP from doing all that but really whats the truth!! Some say doing all these mods ain't really gonna get you much if any, if you want really power from you're S people say go Turbo or SC. I'd honestly don't want all that stuff, well, least not right now! I'd really, for now, would like just a little bit more. Maybe like 220whp or as much as I can get W/O including a Turbo kit or a SC.

i gained about 5whp from k&n fipk, plm header, berk HFC, and invidia q300 exhaust. so not much power gain but you do save some weight.

Well peak horse power gains won't be a lot with or with out a tune. But with a tune your mid range gains will be significant enough where the car will feel stronger and be faster down low as well as higher peak gains.

Just get a test pipe and EMS. You will see more HP out of getting it tuned with a test pipe than any i/h/e setup out there.

Getting tuned on an ems will give you quite a bit of HP throughout the whole powerband. Also, you can look into BC stage 2 cams. With the cams I/H/E and the supporting tune, you will have no problem reaching, if not exceeding, your power goals.

Thanks guys for the input!! Just another question though, how would I tune my car though? I have no knowledge about tunning or anything like that. Where would I take my S to get tuned. I have no idea haha. I'd like to do it one day but I know nobody that does it or even somebody who has gotten a tune before. So I'm really in the dark.

Go to your local sub forum section for where you live. There should be a thread in there about tuners in your area. If not just ask in the approprate section.

First step is to buy a standalone ECU. I think you said you had an MY04 right? I recommend the AEM EMS. This is what controls your entire engine so if there is any place to put up the money, this is it. Trying to take the cheap way out will have serious consequences.

As far as tuning, I would check around your local forum and see who is recommended in your area. Installation of the ems, dyno pulls, tune, and street driving and checks and back out the door will run you somewhere around $500. Like I said, this is definitely something you want done right the first time.

You want all of your intended mods done before you go to tune your car.

The Test Pipe and Exhaust will be a good investment. The tune will help with the mid range power but has to be done right as mentioned before.
