Default Reasonably priced bike hitch?

I know, I know. Research...
However, I have only stumbled upon the Chase hitch (a little too pricey), hitches that require drilling (umm, no) and home made stealth hitches (not my thing).

I didn't want to bring back old threads from 2009 and prior, so I was just wondering if anyone had any good suggestions for hitches. I'm not looking to tow, just looking to take my bicycle to the trails. I don't want a bike rack because I'm terrified of ruining my paint!

Thanks for the help! I'm ready to be bombarded with links.

You have the available options. It's just a matter of deciding which best fits your budget and priorities.

Give us a number. "Reasonable" is always highly subjective and you can't just assume that your reasonable is everyone else's.

Thanks for the reply. I feel like $400 for the chase hitch is too much. I'd like to pay no more than $200, but I don't want to do any drilling.

I was looking into this one. I remember reading a post where someone said that their receiver started to "bend" on the top of the bumper beam with a bike rack on it. I would definitely want to reinforce the receiver with some welded L brackets before putting a lot of weight on it. Last thing you want is for the welds to fail and lead to the destruction of your bikes, trunk, and rear bumper. I'm not sure why he doesn't do this from the get go.

For the OP, the hitch is here:

Take a look at my signature link. I think I have compiled most of the information out there. Since you have a MY '02, take a look on ebay . I got my Da'Lan trailer hitch for $35 for MY 00-03.

I would suggest staying away from Gladman. After consulting with me about my original design for the stealth hitch and providing him with detailed plans and templates, he took the idea and called it his own.

I've had 4 Chase Race hitches and even though I've had issues with some of them, I still like them a lot.

My advice would be to get a used one as they are much more affordable. I have a broken one, I'm trying to find someone that can do machine work to see if it is fixable because it was a AP1 specific hitch and I'm running a AP2 one right now because the AP1 wasn't available.

Thanks guys.

I think the better plan is to slap a tow hitch on secondary car. I really like driving the s2k around but I'll just take another vehicle to the trails if I decide on buying a hitch.
