Recommended header wrap?
Hey guys i just ordered berks header and since it doesnt allow to reinstall the heatshield im going to wrap up with some header/thermo wrap whatever its called, i know jet hot is much easier but i love how wrapped headers look. Are there any brands that are well known for producing quality wrap, im mainly doing it for the looks but i also want one that wont melt or crack the header.
And also how hard is it to do this? Should i find an exhaust shop to do this? Or find someone thats done it before, i heard it can crack if you tighten it too much or it wont cool as effecient if its not evenly layered.

The main point in this is to not only keep some heat away from the other engine bay components, but also to keep the heat inside the header for increased flow which results in more power. Hot gases flow better then cold. So it serves two purposes. Ive never wrapped one before but have seen a few and doesn't look very complicated. I would go for it myself, but thats just me. Every one I have seen has pretty even spacing between the wrap, about half covered as you make your next revolution, just keep working your way down. I have never heard about problems with too tight or two loose being an issue, but i'm not the header wrap guru either. I would say it needs to be tight enough to stay secure and in place, no more, no less. Hope that helps some.

so do I start from the top or the bottom? and I have to cut it different times to wrap each 'tube' or just go back down the header when I reach the top and kind of do an up and down motion? or cut different strips and only do 1 layer for each tube. hope I'm making sense lol

I heard header wrap makes it more prone to crack

so then the end of the header will have more layers than each individual tube? Where can i get some of this stuff anyways? My local auto store doesnt have any.
I know that B&B auto parts has carried this, however I don't know if they are nation wide or not. You may not have one.
