Thumbs up Removing soft top tray cause more drone?

Just wondering if removing the soft top tray and it seems that attached to the bottom is sound deadening material. Has anyone removed this and noticed an increase in drone from an exhaust or much louder road noise etc?
I hate the rattles it gives me when I have the top up and my subwoofer going. Rattles pretty damn loud but don't want to remove the rear tray and have the drone from my exhaust deafen me. I am going on a 1200 mile drive to Fl from NY shortly so horrible road noise and drone would make it miserable.
If it did give more road noise I could eventually get some dynomat to stop the noise but wouldn't be doing that before the drive if I do in fact remove it.
Let me know your experiences. Thanks.

I removed it for the same reason - to lessen the amount of rattles & vibrations caused by my sub. You definitely hear A LOT more road noise, but I got used to it. The sub sounds much better too.

I don't notice it being much louder (Js racing 60rs) than it was w/ the tray installed. If you don't like it, the tray clips back in pretty easily.

To remove it do you just pull the clips along the back of the seats that you can see and reach with the top down?
Didn't look around too much but saw the clips there for it so I'm sure they have to come out. Anything else from inside the trunk need to be disconnected?

I have my tray removed right now and I cannot wait to put it back in. Road noise is just as annoying as exhaust drone. Trust me.

Just turn the sub down and wait until you get back to remove the tray and see how much you can tolerate. I cannot stress enough how annoying and loud the road noise from the back of the car is.

Although I just remembered, I'm riding on BFG KDW's. Not the quietest tires in the world.

Yeah I think I will wait until I get some sound deadening material to cover that area with. That should prevent all the added road noise I would think no?

Yeah, I gutted all mine. Trunk, rear trunk tray, EVERYTHING and you hear everything. Road noise is the most annoying. I'm running my stock exhaust now and the road noise is just that much more prevalent.

Looking at your mod list, I don't think road noise from tray removal will be an issue. You should already have plenty of noise over stock.
