Default Roll cage that doesn't hinder storage?

I noticed most 4pt roll cages have a huge bar running across the top of the secret compartment, rendering it useless!

Is there one on the market that doesn't do that but yet allows harnesses to be run when I want to later down the line?

The Hard Dog product let's you specificy a bolt or weld-in diagonal, and/or cross-bar/harness-bar.

It's my understanding the diag only slightly interferes (opens like 80%) and the harness completely blocks it but you can opt for a bolt-in.

I was (probably still am) going to do one of theirs with a welded diag, and bolt-in harness. I understand they also offer a corner mount for the OEM seat belts if you want to remove your factory roll hoops (I haven't looked, but I'm assuming the OEM hoops have the corner mount for the belts).

Like $500-750 or so depending on the exact combination of options.

like [DT] said, you can get the hard dog with a removable diagonal. the diagonal and harness bar aren't related.

Okay, I had to take some time to ask a friend who has a Hard Dog bar on his MX-5.

While it looks nice..., it kinda looks..., I don't know, cheesy and American?

I hate to be picky, but is there another brand that offers a similar thing, cost no object?

The Hard Dog setup hardly "cheesy", and while it is manufactured in the US, I'm not sure how that's any sort of deficit considering the engineering and quality that's put into it (and how many are being used for _actual_ competition). I mean, they're built in house, by hand, I don't see how it gets any better - you can walk into the shop and see the fabrication, the materials, etc.

If your intent is to have a well engineered rollbar that provides improved [track] safety and functionality, Hard Dog is an outstanding product.

If money is no cost, then I'd just contact a local fabricator. There's a ton of race shops around that can build you anything to spec (many offer certified products if you intend to compete).

Really though, it sounds like you really just want to add some "JDM Styling" and there are a ton of those out there, 3-5X the cost of the HD setup, many aren't recognized as valid safety devices by competitive organizations (which should tell you something) and I suspect some are built by outsourcing to various cheap construction locales in the pacific rim (using mediocre spec materials).

Just my $0.02, good luck!

I'd def go with hard dog. Your getting it for safety I am assuming right? Hard dog is a very good piece and very functional unlike most others on the market.
