if we could have had this as an option for even say $1000 more from the factory, I still would have passed. this only belongs in a race car. takes the fun out of daily driving.

I had a DSG in my last car (2008 GTI) and trust me, the allure of a transmission shifting really fast for you dies quickly. the DSG is considered one of the best sequential gearboxes you can get. Everyone else copied them.
A. This is a race car we're talking about. I don't think anyone is suggesting running a box like this on the street.

B. If you really want to get into it, a DSG and a sequential are quite different contraptions.

Agreed. I don't think a sequential "kills the allure" (as it was described) of shifting at all. The driver still makes all the decisions about when, where, and what gear, the gearbox just complies more quickly.

A V6.
[facepalm]

so, a $10K gearbox that's likely legal for his class...
to a $10k swap that's likely illegal for his class and is likely to hinder the car just as much as help it.

maybe you should go talk to the guys in the pits at pro races before offering more advice. Just a suggestion.

a. did not know that. this will be perfect for a race car.

b. sure it may be a little different, but it is the same idea. faster upshifts/downshifts than a manual but less user involvement. and no clutch pedal.

I don't think the OP mentioned what class he races in. Besides my "suggestion" was more of a joke than a suggestion (hence the ). However, I disagree that a V6 would be a hindrence. I think a V6 out of a TL-S would be quite awesome in an S2000.

Tell that to Nissan or Ferrari and see what they say to you.

Phone numbers? Oh wait, don't the Ferrari sequentials have more than 6 gears?

Most didn't copy, they just hired and paid the royalties to the same UK based company that came up with the tech. It's not actually 100% from VW, they were just the first on the boat due to the Veyron.
