Default Seat Help

Hey guys,
haven't been on s2ki for about half a year, been very busy with college . but im getting back into it

Ive been looking to get a seat for the past two years, at first i started with Tenzo-R leather CF seat, which i bought after hunting them down for a year and then sold after i tried installing them because they were bottom mount and my head stuck out about an inch through the cloth top. so then i gave up on the seats all together. then I decided to get OEM/MUGEN, the S1R but im too big for it so im back to the drawing board again.

so im 6'1" and working my way back to a 38 waist.

I was looking into the following seats:
Recaro pole position
Sparco evo 2
Sparco evo 3

I need them to fit me of course and fit the S2k, id like to be able to open the glove box and avoid rubbing as much as possible and i need them to drop me in height as much as possible so i can sit bellow the roll bar and windshield line(so they have to be side mount). I was also told that on the recaro PP the harness holes would be below my shoulders

maybe some other seats are good too, hopefully someone can help.
Its starting to get real frustrating, im tall im big and i have to sit lower.
please help!
Thanks guys
Edib Z.

I have the sparco evo and i love it. I'm 6'4" and i weight 165lb, 32" waist. The evo 2 or evo 3 will be a very tight fit in the s2000 but i have seen an evo2 installed so i know it will fit and i am very happy with mine. I would be shocked if an evo 3 fit though. Everyone comments on how comfortable they are. my father and my coworker both have a 36 waist and they fit snug in the evo, you would deffinately want the evo 2 though if your at a 38 waist. MVP Motorsports has the lowest prices on these seats btw, far below everyone else when i bought mine this spring. there are a ton of pics towards the end pages of my build thread btw. Another thing, you need to trim the shoulder wing on the evo seats, which is easy and really not a big deal (pics in my build thread).

SO a recaro pole position vs sparco evo 2 or something else that would fit. btw when you put in the roll cage did it delete your secret compartment(is that what you meant by mugen roll cage trim). also you did an sweet build with your s, congrats!
Thanks

May want to look at the F1Spec seats in the sponsor style/accessory forum.

I just ordered two R1 seats without logos for $650 shipped, although the rails required cost another $323.

i looked in to the F1spec seats but i still cant decide.
there are some seriously mixed reviews on the seats.

im a firm believer in you get what you pay for but i wouldnt mind trying out the F1specs for a while to at the least keep my stocks looking fresh but idk..

i think honda/recaro did a great job with our stock seats but i wouldnt mind a non leather option as well as a alternative to keep my stocks from getting beat up.

i was thinking of picking up a pair of the F1spec's since theyre so cheap or just getting some clazzio covers..

You'd have to read through the thread for opinions on how well they fit. The biggest fitment problem I can recall is some models that would block the center compartment. Another complaint was the material wears out after a while, but someone commented the expensive brands do the same. I don't know whether it's true or not, because I've never owned the expensive brands, but judging the cloth Recaros in the CRX Si it wouldn't surprise me. Also, if you go to the f1spec website they have actual measurements of the different models.

The ship weight for my two reclinable seats is 30lbs, which is probably less than the weight of one of the factory seats, and the non-reclining seats are surely even lighter. I'm replacing mine for the same reasons -- don't want to wear out the factory ones. I'll store them away and condition every few months.

the type 5's are $400 a pair...
thats less than 1 recaro, sparco..etc

i thought about buying a set considering theyre roughly a little more than a set of seat covers but still have my doubts about them...

i hear the reclineable ones pretty much rattle and fall apart in a few months (from the reviews ive read) so the type5s would be ideal. no recline, no moving parts and cheap.

im not too tall and pretty skinny so fitting isnt a issue.
as for in car fitment, you can read through the sponsor thread and see pics of them installed.
i think with the exception of the mugen reps, they all fit pretty well without rubbing the console door.

you wanna split a set of type 5s?
id hate to buy 2 and not like them.

edit: link to the thread im talking about

Ack, I didn't see anything about them rattling apart but then again I didn't read through the entire thread. I hope it's not true :/

the rattling one i think i may have read on a honda tech forum or maybe g35 forum..
im not sure. i googled "f1spec seat review" and read everything i found.

i think it pretty much said that after a few months, the little plastic recline lever was rattling pretty bad and the seat would slip out of a recline from time to time.
