As for the helmholtz canister, I am not quite convinced these things actually work, the main reason I got the Cleib exhaust was because it had a helmholtz canister so I thought it wouldn't drone, but that thing still droned bad, so
What is your goal? Single exhaust implies louder exhaust. Not going with a 3" single pretty much begs the question: what is the point exactly? Do you just like the look of a single exit but want none of the performance benefits?

Threads like this really feel like they are just a big waste of everyones' time.

I'm running the same setup, but with the STR spec midpipe. I added silencers that have made it decent on the street. I take them out for autocross.

There is more thought behind this than you are suggesting.

In order (and subjective):
1. I find the OEM exhaust sound bad, a tad too quiet, but mostly I don't like the tone, sounds a bit like a souped up lawn-mower imo, I want something that sounds deeper.
2. I think duals look bad on the S2K, and imo duals should only be put on cars with multiple headers. I like the look of a single a lot more.
3. Weight savings are nice, also a reason to go for a single.
4. Last, any increase in power is nice too, but the least important reason to me.

Already owned two singles that fullfilled the above criteria, but they ended up having too much drone and being too loud, so now I am looking for something a bit more tame.
Got a lot of valuable answers, so for me and others looking for the same answer I think it definitely was worth the time.

Fair enough, Urge single with a silencer (if you think it too loud)?

Do you have a link to the silencers you're using?

I think trying the Fujitsubo Power Getter first will be the safer bet, regarding loudness.
Also I wouldn't be surprised if the addition of a silencer to the Urge single would negate most if not all performance gains of going with a 76mm over a 60mm.

I had the urge str single, entirely too loud but it didn't drone. Had the asm 60 single,.... And in my opinion I don't know how they sell for so damn much. There is nothing exotic about them. The higher end with no muffler packing is different though.
im probably gonna suck it up and get a Mugen even though I hate the looks

I don't. I found them cheap on ebay.

BASed on my experience the cleib or milltek are very quiet compared to others. Drone is minimal with a test pipe. Both sound great
