Default Skunk2 Megapower Exhaust silencers

Long story short, the exhaust was on the car when I bought it and I don't mind the lower RPM drone but I've got to take a trip with my wife and she's less than enthused with the sound. The car never came with silencers and I measured the tips at 110mm so I'm looking at buying the 4.25inch silencers on ebay (roughly 108mm) but i was recently told that they're a waste and do nothing to reduce the drone.

I know on my 240sx the silencer made a significant difference in changing the tone so I am/was hoping they would do the same with my s2000 exhaust. Installing a test pipe isn't an option at this time so I'd like to hear some first hand experience from the invidia/skunk2 owners whether or not it's worth it to install the silencers.

Thanks in advance

i personally have the skunk2 exhaust and i can't hear any drone with the silencers installed. If there is any drone, than i can't tell. silencers do help greatly with extended trips.

Ditto; silencers do help but depending on the design YMMV. The Skunk2 silencers are very well made from pix I've seen (and $$$) and supposedly doesn't loose HP. I've heard some silencers made by local muffler shops that sound farty.

Thanks for the feedback, I've come across a few "geniune" skunk2 universal silencers; however, they looked nothing alike which made me dubious of their origin. That compiled with the cost (cheapest was $46 each) made me less than eager to jump to buy them when I can get garaunteed generic POS silencers from ebay for less than $46 total shipped.
