There should have been a both option.

HT for the winter months makes the car nice and snug. Visibility is better and it transforms the car into a coupe.

ST is perfect for the warmer months and you simply store the HT until winter comes back round.

HT
ST

I really wanted to do both...and some day I will, but right now I am a little tight on money and I really needed to get this thing fixed ASAP; and ST was cheaper

soft top is great, i was a top always down guy. my soft top however has a broken window and tears, i patched it all but i'm too lazy to yank it all out and replace it (most likely going to tear again and not to mention vandalism of people slashing the top).

so, i added a cheap hardtop. it's great for the colder winter months and hot summer months. you can take it off whenever you want and you always have the soft top underneath as a backup (don't have to remove it).

buy a used top and if you don't like it you'll be able to re-sell it and recover all of your money, so there is no financial risk. oem is best with it's great visibility, excellent fitment, and rear defroster. the mugen style ones however look better.

My soft top has tears, and my back window is cracked to all hell. I'm currently on the lookout for a used ap2 top, but if I had my choice, disregarding price, I'd go hard top without hesitation.

My main problem with getting a hardtop is that I'm a weight savings nut. With my interior already nearly stripped, my soft top would be gone immediately.

Soft top replacement is scheduled for Oct 20th. Stay tuned for before and after pics of the top along with a review.

Hardtop Pros:
Looks great.
Enhanced visibility due to rear window.
Resale value.
No wind noise. (enhancing cabin sounds)

Hardtop Cons:
Needing two people to carry the hardtop off.
