This.
I just had my shine overfenders installed and because of the small gaps it has, I'm already regretting not buying authentic ASM ones.

Authentic fan of everything, and IMO think its always going to be better then fake. You pay for what you get.

All my parts are from shine auto and even though they are not the only rep company around they are the best by far! I hack up and modify my panels to make them unique anyway so buying authentic just doesn't work for me. And when its just looks 80% of the time rep vs authentic doesn't really matter long as fitment and functions are equally met. In my experience all kits unless factory Honda for this car will require work.

I doubt I have any pictures of my old car anymore but the shine front, hard top, and rear bumper I had were all pretty spot on.. Plus when you package things together they give a substantial discount. Sure it doesn't fit just like authentic but there's even things like the authentic spoon top that have noticeable fitment issues across the board. Shine isn't just another Extreme dimensions or a company of the like if you aren't a perfectionist or don't mind putting minimal work into the part you'll be satisfied. Comes with fogs, undertray ect

My OPINIONS:

A bumper isn't a life or death decision. Think about the concept of buying a fake part for the sake of style. Its counter productive. Your bumper on the car works fine. Why not just save your money for the satisfaction of having a real part? Sure, they both probably do the same thing. But why cheapen your car by buying a replica that's made to look "the same"?

If your hobby is something you're passionate about, then the mentality shift is to just stay away from fake parts altogether.

I wouldn't buy a fake bumper. Whether fake or real, its all just a waste of money done for the sake of style. So...why cheat yourself and buy a fake one? Its not like they're giving them away. You're still paying for it.

I don't buy fake stuff because I am an adult and I have a job. I just wait til I have enough money to justify buying what I want. I don't throw it away on something that's "kind of the same".

Beyond all that, the functionality of the bumper is likely not the same. The reason that the real one costs what it does is because of R&D and design. Copying a product is cheaper, but usually doesn't come with the same results. Would you buy a Honda replica timing chain for your car even if it looks the same?

If I planned to use it for its real purpose...I'd rather support a company that did its own R&D and came out with a superior product. Why would I, as a long term person in the car scene, want to support a knock off?

If the bumper's purpose will be to show it off in a parking lot...you're going to have to call it a replica or lie about it. Why would you pay anything for that?

Again...my opinion.

I don't believe money is always the issue of going replica vs authentic. In the end if you aren't trying to win points at a show and it doesn't fit like Duraflex why does it matter? Not like Spoon is going to send you a piece of paper you can hang on your wall to say you're a better car enthusiast for paying more for their parts. There's plenty of people running knockoff parts around a track at the same speeds as the name brand stuff with 0 issues.
