Default Spoon thermo/fan switch

Ok guys ive searched and didn't see anything about the use of the parts. Have anyone tried them in a S2000 yet? Im thinking about upgrading to a spoon thermostat and fan switch just to keep the motor a little bit cooler. Of course im looking at radiators also. ALso, the car will be supercharged, not sure it that will affect anything also.

Thanks for any input

I have them in my car, You want to keep an FI motor cooler it helps keep detonation away that will damage your motor.

Lol i have the switch and HAVE had it for a while just yet to install it. I waited for my new radiator to come in as well. I agree with bbs2000 you want the motor cooler if it all possible.

Ok, so those two items are good to go correct? So can i put them in now and still be ok with my stock computer? The car will run a tad bit richer correct? Since it won't reach the operating temp that the stock computer is set too.

You are wasting your time and money with lower temp. thermostats and switches. Changing coolant temperature should not be considered as a method of knock control and is counterintuitive in terms of engine performance and efficiency.

from what i see monitoring coolant temp via Scangauge - the stock setup is very efficient. the fan kicks on at 95 degr Celcius and it at idle it takes about 30 sec to cool down.
on roll, even at mountains, it's rarely gets to that threshhold.

of course FI heats engine much more - but kicking on the fan IMO will not help as it doesn't help to cool FASTER.
i can understand that start cooling EARLIER sems like a good help - but in reality you gain like 30 sec at the period when the engine is not very hot yet.
with FI the engine gets to the hot temp and stays there (you hope) or going to very hot.
this is the area that you whant to treat. not the "pre hot" area.
what's needed bigger radiator and fan - this way you can put away from the engine much more heat.
cooling down engine compartment usually also helps quite a bit.

Hmm! Interesting, so having the fans come on earlier wouldn't help you think? Im trying to get the motor to run a little cooler since there will be more strain on the motor with the supercharger.

The motor still gets to the operating temp. it just cools off quicker.
Fan switch and cooler thermostat are not being used as a way to control knock that's only if you were to go in with a tune and messing with timing and fuel tables push it to the edge of detonation to get the most performance then try to cool it off with cooler coolant temps.
A bigger radiator is going to help in line with the cooler themostat and fan switch when FI is introduced.
Yes the stock system is very effecient, alot of cars with the exception of a few from the factory are effecient but he's not going to be stock going FI. The cooler thermostat and fan switch work together, it doesn't make any sence to use a cooler thermostat if the fan doesn't turn on to cool the radiator back down after the thermostat opens. The thermostat will never close back off if the coolant doesn't cool down, you won't have consistant coolant cycles.

Ok, thats the answer i was looking for. When i had my built b20v, i got the thermostat, and not the fan switch till later, and the car ran good, but it was cold alot. Plus i had a C&R radiator. I will be getting a aftermarket radiator as well. Thanks alot guys.
