Default Spring Rates?

What are the stiffest spring rates for just springs and what are the average drops of each.

Swift-
Eibach-
Espelir-
Neuspeed-
Skunk-
Tein S-

Just want to see how they compare to coilover systems such as megan or buddy club and so on

I know the stock shocks for the s are quite good on rebound and if i can get close to the smae results with just springs for much less would rather do that.

thanks Jeremy

*double check and use at your own risk

go google on the drops, some spring is actually not bad. Mild drop with mild rate increase(eibach) is usable on the oem damper. the spring you want to avoid are low(aggressive drop) spring with stiff rate or worse, low spring with soft rate.

in short, if you going anything lower than 1 inch you'll run into 2 situation:

1) spring is stiff, you don't ride on bumpstop because of the spring constant but you over power the damper(under dampered)

2)spring is soft(remember it's proportional to the drop, etc), you run out of stroke and ride bumpstop everytime.

both are bad, the second one is worse.

oh yeah...a good percentage of spring is design on the ap1, the rear biased rate might not work well on the average "ap2" damper(since they are front biased)

with coilover you get a shortened(or adjustable) damper body, they give you alot of freedom with suspension travel, damper control and preload adjustable. is coilover always the golden answer for suspension quest? hell no, get what you need and budget accordingly. 90% of s2k driver are faster on the track with oem setup(personal opinion), because most of the people with 456 ways coilover can't tell the difference between the effect of too little preload from a slice of watermelon.

spring rate is just one thing about suspension, if you can't control(damper), use it(travel) or adjust it(preload, height, corner balance, etc), you are only getting so much done with just spring rate.

pershas it's time to someone to do a damper dyno on oem part.

i am including the rate of some of the most popular coilover for s2k

most of bell curve for street/weekend track set up is around 10-12 k front and 8-12k rear.

that's about 672 lb(at 12kg/mm), i doubt you can find something that harsh on spring(except going custom swift or eibach). come to look at it, your best bet for spring and damper combo is actually oem cr set up, you can get the whole shebang for under 1k otd

thanks a lot i no that coilovers are much better for a track application but im looking for something that is street worthy and track worthy.

The only reason i wonder about the spring rates is cause i know the stock dampening is quite good. and im afraid that going with a coilover setting i may just screw up what honda has done so well. im just looking for a stiffer spring to reduce wieght transfer in braking and cornering.

I have heard good things about the megan and buddy club for the cheaper spectrums of the coilover ladder.

well the only reason i said megan is cause i have heard they are just the apexi ones that megan took over.

And by street worthy im not meaning a smooth ride that doesnt bother me. Im more worried about how it will fare on the track and in autocross.

rumors continues..they first start out saying they are knock off, and they someone said they are the same, and the next thing you know apexi went under and took over by megan.

i haven't even seen one single facts in any of the trend. bottom line: if you like apexi, trust apexi and want apexi quality then go for apexi.

having same spring rate is just one part of the whole picture, if you know what i am saying.

there's a debate like this about tein coilover, for my miata the spring rate for basic, flex and SS are the same and all the wiseful thinking people debate to death about they are the same basic stuff. now i just laugh

what is your budget btw? 12k is livable on the street for some people
