Default Stage 1 tuning

Alright

Ive just bought my first S2000 after many years owning Civics and an FTO and im well impressed so far having only had 1 day.

Im looking to do some basic tuning to start with and have seen loads of different companies and am really looking for advice on what works best for the car.

My intial thought for the following Spoon parts:

Carbon Air Duct
High flow air filter
Venturi throttle body
4-2-1 race manifold and N1 exhaust

Any thoughts much appreciated

I have the air duct and it looks really nice, but it doesn't give any difference in performance until you are up to speed.
If you want to buy an air filter, don't waste $ on the spoon one
Throttle bodies will give hardly any power if any at all
The OEM header is pretty good, but buy a testpipe and exhaust and your good.

My thoughts are:

Carbon Air Duct = little better throttle response, but where it clears the radiator it gets hot as hell I would put some heat barrier tape under it to limit the heat transfer (most people dont do it though)

High flow air filter = by a K&N Spoons is a waste of $$$ and I have owned one in the past. Or cut both these items out and go with a K&N FIPK kit or AEM intake for more power

Venturi throttle body = No gains, you would be better off putting a hondata gasket under the intake manifold and swapping the stock TB for a Bored out one (its cheaper too + its probably what spoon does anyway )

4-2-1 race manifold and N1 exhaust = Spoons header is nowhere near the best available for the S I would go with Tracy/Mugen 2.2L version/ ASM/toda/ or J's racing instead (J's has been shown to make great power). I am also not a fan of there N1 it sounds good (but loud) and the piping is not very big. You would be better off getting a J's/Amuse/70mm ASM/ or T1R

I am not a big fan of Spoons parts and have not had a lot of success with them in the past. There are comapanies that make a lot better parts IMHO, but in most cases they are more pricey.

If you want to stay with one manufacture for your build I would go with J's racing or even Mugen.......

Good luck!
