Default start button on a non-s2k

I have seen a couple pics of the button assembly, but it looks like it needs a harness type plug. does anyone know if the start button can just be wired to complete a circuit if hardwiring the starter straight to the battery?

^LOL. I doubt it. you NEED a relay. The power the starter needs = much much much more than the power the button can handle. It might work once before it fries.

actually, i have a wire from the starter that as of now i have to open the hood and manually touch to the battery, it works fine. except that i have to get out and open the hood to do it, which is why i want to use a simple starter button to complete the circuit between the battery and starter when pushed.

i think what hes saying is you cant just run 12v source straight through button and to starter... its too much current and the button cant handle it, you need a relay so that there can be a lower current running through the switch and switches to higher to activate the starter

i know people have done this with civics, integras, rsx... might have more luck there? most s2000 owners dont mess with their start button?

You can use a computer floppy drive power cable as a harness for the start button. I've done it on 2 cars. Google it, there's tons of links out there with photos...
