Suspension Bushings: Spoon VS. Ballade
#11
Hoping to use a large bench vice to squeeze some Mugen in after a little hand file work,am sure dont have to be that tight to warrant 10T press -I don't pay shops other than MOT tests

I would suggest hardened bushings from Mugen, Spoon or Hardrace. RHDJapan has the lowest price on the Mugen and Spoon bushings. I think the Mugen full set is cheaper than Spoon and they are also on sale at RHDJapan this weekend. While your at it, I would also look into swapping the engine and trans mounts for Mugen or Spoon(comes with a reinforced transmission brace) if you can.

I've replaced all of my bushings using just a long high grade M12 bolt and tubing in the right dimensions.
Slight correction, never tried it on the lower front ones since I had a 100t press available at that moment, pretty sure the bolt method would have worked there as well though.

Does anyone know if it's poasible to press in new compliance bushings while leaving the control arm connected to the car, or does it need to be taken off?

Anything is possible I guess, but at that point it would be connected by the balljoint only and it would be pretty awkward to work with. Probably easier to just take it off the car since its 4/5 of the attachment points are already undone.
