i ditched my j's racing test pipe as it caused a bad fuel smell and made my fuji legalis r sound crap so I ditched it for a 63mm berk hfc and didnt notice any loss in power and no more bad smell!

He told me that is gonna cost a couple thousand and require a ref inspection, he ended up letting me off with a warning and said if he ever caught me again he would throw me the book. I saw the cop and I wasn't messing around, he said that he saw a puff of smoke as I drove up a hill which made him suspect.

I have a hfc on this car now. It smelled at first after hard runs, now that its tuned I never smell it ever.

Edit:
You don't put a testpipe or hfc on for peak power because you probably won't get much. With tuning you can lower the vtec a thousand or so rpm and that will get you around 15 to the wheels around 5.5k rpm.

That's crazy son!!! Wow cop even pulled out a mirror to check the underside of your car

I think ill just stick to a BERK HFC, even if it doesn't pass smogg

The drawbacks aren't worth the additional 1.3HP you're going to pick up at 8000rpms. A HFC is a better option, especially if you'd like to stay on the right side of the law.

1.3 apparently you have not been looking threw the na section often. People with a 3 inch test pipe and exhaust are making pretty decent gains when lowering the vtec and tuning.
Sure they are, but you'd make 90% of those gains with a HFC and not have to worry about polluting the environment, breaking the law, and stinking up your neighborhood.

just installed 60 mm testpipe with stock exhaust. people talk about the smell but i honestly cannot smell anything even with the top down. no smoke for me either. flashpro made a big difference with the toda callibration. the only time i smell anything is when i shut the car off and get out after driving it hard and its not that bad at all.

I've never smelled the "test pipe stink smell" so I couldn't come to any conclusion..
If I do go K-pro, I think i'd rather have a test pipe on

headers dont really change the loudness of the car and some questionable gains. but stock headers are great. if you really want something you can notice you can do a couple things.

get cams. (13whp gain)
boost (?!?!?!?!?)
gears (no real hp but added tq and you can max out each gear faster which means faster off the line acceleration)

i have i/t/e and i shoot flames and i also have some smoke come out my exhaust at a light after pushing it hard. just unburned fuel and maybe a bit of oil which is normal.
