Default ThrottleBody Help

Hey guys. Im a lil confused but I may be able to get some good advise. My car is an ap1 with absolutely no mods except for DC headers which came with the car from the dealer and the rest of the exhaust is bone stock....After a couple weeks of my car idling strange I get my first CEL. After hooking it up to an OBD 2 scanner I get a TPS sensor code. So I obviously have to get a new throttlebody. So regardless if an aftermarket throttlebody is overkill or not, I have to replace mine no matter what....which should I get? I do not prefer to port the manifold. Do I need to if I go 66m and if I do should I get the spacer for it? Im planning to clean th IAC, replace the PCV valve, and MAP sensor along with replacing the throttlebody. Also, should I get a CAI since im already doing the induction work? Any input to this is greatly appreciated.

Rob.

double check your throttle cable adjustment, and run the test on the TPS. If a sensor is all you need, then it can be replaced by itself. I don't really see a need to get a nee TB.

Thx TJ......but the problem is that you cant buy the TPS sensor itself, as it only comes with the TB. Now Ive heard some peeps on here that contrapt a TPS from other hondas and manipulate it, but theres too much involved.

save the money get a tps from omni power. $90. see the diy on uth if you want to tackle it yourself (its really easy, just looks complicated at first lol).. But before you do anything, double check your connections, etc.. good luck..

Guess what the CEL went away but you guys are right that I should check the connections first. I dont know if these sensors come and go but we just had some warm air today in the NY area, and maybe that has to do with it. Bjj dont you have to drill out the tps from the throttle body? As I understand it, Honda conveniently isolated it from any conventional access.

yeah you have to drill and extract the screws holding it in place as it is not made to be removed. I have an OEM TB forsale with 31k miles on it that has the TPS sensor in place. I'm selling if for $125 shipped so if you decide to go that route... hit me up!

Hope that helps...

It sure does OPS and thx, I will give it some thought as that will save me some money. Since, in all likelyhood Ill be changing the TB do you think that it would be worth just going through with a CAI, TB 64mm + spacer as well? I know that the HP gains are minimal, but do you think its worth doing, since ill be doing induction work anyway?

glad its working for you again. but if you ever need to replace it, you don't really drill it out, u actually grind slots into the screws. it was my first time doing it and it worked out fine. you will need one of those dremels though with the small metal cutter (i used the one that came with it, its like a small circular cutter) --

I would recommend keeping your stock tb and spend the money elsewhere where it would be more beneficial. good luck

I say stay stock too... I didn't grind slots I drilled and used screw extractors but that would work too...
