Default Today was a good day

Hi guys...

Just wanted to share... First new addition to my prized S2K - a new shift knob. I ordered the OEM titanium knob - I just really liked the shape and since my S2K is pretty much as mint as you can get, I wanted to keep things real. Here is what it looks like:

I really like the "feel" of it and while it might get a little warm or cold, that's all good.

When I picked up my S2K I was lucky enough to get the two remotes in perfect order. Sure they needed new batteries but once replaced they worked flawlessly. However, I only got one of the black keys and of course the gray "valet" key (as if I will ever let a valet touch my car). At any rate, for kicks I called the local Honda dealer and asked about having a new key cut. The dude on the phone was very nice actually and told me there were two key blanks available. They were both "reprogrammable" but had way different prices. He quoted me $175 for the one with "all the bells and whistles" and $32 for the one that would work with my S2K. WTF?

I told him I would be at the dealership directly. I got there, he looked at my key and said he could "reprogram" the blank and make me a copy - for $32. I was a little skeptical. A few minutes later he comes out with the key and tells me we need to go test it. We walk out and I try the key out. Doors lock/unlock, trunk locks/unlocks, secret compartment locks/unlocks... What about the engine? Sho'nuff... It fires right up and all is good.

So, did I do good with a microchip replacement "black" key for $32 cut at an authorized Honda dealer?

Here is a pic I took with my iPhone (same thing above) - I am just having a real hard time not just "staring" at it... These things have s-e-x-y written all over them...

I've always been interested in that, even before I bought the car. How does it change shifting characteristics?

Much to my surprise the "original" shift knob with the leather surround is heavy. The titanium knob is maybe just a tad heavier. However the finish of the ti is much, much nicer. It just feels "right"; a much nicer feel than the original one.

It lends itself very nicely to thumb, first and second finger wrist shifts rather than big ham fisted arm shifts required by bigger diameter knobs in the palm of your hand.

More weight, easier to throw.

My local dealer charged me $30 for a new key cut to my VIN and programmed to my car, so about the same as what you paid.

Good stuff! My S only came with one remote and one key. I bought a second key at Honda for those just in case moments and it only cost me $56 total for the key and programming.
