Default torn between intakes

Hey guys im in the market for an intake and have pretty much narrowed it down to the aem v2 and the k&n fipk.

The fipk is easy to install and i heard has better throttle response and power than the aem v2. But the only thing driving me away from it is how ugly it looks. My cars already black and i dont want more black inside the engine bay, im really anal about how the engine bay looks.

The aem v2 looks really nice IMO especially on a black car, but i dont know about having to cut anything on my car just to install it. Is it really as hard an install as most people say it is? It rains alot here in florida but never to the point of big puddles or anything like that, if i plug the drain hole i think i should be ok.

Anyways i think i need some more convincing im still torn between the two. Wish they made an fipk with a titanium look pipe like the aem.

FIPK gets my vote between those. Looks are so-so, but its not like you have a clear hood.

"It rains alot here in FL".........then NO on the low-mounted intakes varieties. "You think" it'll be okay is great......until you're wrong and out BIG $$. Not at all worth the risk.

If the looks bug you, consider the Comptech. The CF lid is a little blingy.

i have the K&N on my car...IMO the AEM looks cheesy..esp the chrome/titanium look it has. I will say it is VERY loud. I bought my car with it already installed and my friends bone stock AP1 is sooo much quieter than mine was with stock exhaust.

I would keep the stock airbox and just do the mod and get the CF top for it and a bladder intake pipe with the airduct. You buy the cf top, intake pipe, air duct and give me the stock intake, ill give you my FIPK!

Maybe its just me but i hate how carbon fiber looks on black... It doesnt stand out and it just looks like faded black. If my car was silver or red then i would be all over the comptech.

^ I agree. I had the K&N FIPK and I could not say anything bad about it. AEM's on the other hand make a little more power but I have seen lots of hydrolocked motors with them and yes they can hydrolock even when running their bypass filter (which probbably reduces HP too)

I was torn too between getting the FIPK and a CAI(mainly the Fujita F5). I ended up deciding on the K&N because I too was afraid of sucking up water. I've been traumatized by a bad past experience I've also seen some dyno plots on here where the gains for the FIPK were pretty good. So you get gains, better throttle response, deep sound, and peace of mind. Those were just the things that made the decision for me Good luck deciding cause it's gonna be hard!

Love my Comptech CAI...looks good and is quiet however sometimes I do wish it had a bit more growl like the K&N I had on my Jetta VR6.
