Default Torque damper question..

I've had my ingalls stiffy engine torque damper for about 3 months and I've recently (2 moths ago) just installed a K&N fipk.. (launched it about 3 times before I got the intake & it spun more before I got it as well..)

Well anyways I just noticed tonight that when I launch like I used to before I had the torque damper that I get way more wheel spin..

Did anyone else notice that their car spins more off the line with any of the torque dampers on the market?? I love it and think it's a great addition to the car.. I was just wondering if I'm the only one who is having this happen..

when youre on stock mounts theres lots of wasted energy from the motor rocking to the side when you launch. the torque damper reduces that rocking, thereby reducing the energy loss, more power makes it to the back.

dont have one on the S, but i noticed the same thing when getting urethane motor mounts on my other vehicles.

Thanks for your input..

I guess I'll have to start launching at 4,000 rpm now instead of 5.. The car just obliterates 1st gear when I launch it..

I launch around 8.... feather your clutch dude. Watch some of the guys race s2ks from gtmotoring, they usually launch around 8-9. Ya it will eat your clutch but you'll be doing 40mph in no time and you won't dip out of the powerband. "If you aren't in vtec then you aren't really racing."

I have an ap2..

I'm not launching at redline, no thank you..

Plus I'd rather kill tires than my clutch.. Atleast for now..

I burned out my aftermarket in a year. I've definitely kept the launchimg to a minimum since I installed the new one.

Yea don't feather the clutch. Drop it, feather the throttle to control spin. Super easy to do in the S. I launch anywhere from 4500-6000 in my ap2 depending on surface and in most cases the throttle stays planted

Yeah thats what I do.. Before the torque damper I'd launch at 5k and just dump it.. And floor that gas.. Never had an issue.. Or if I really wanted to **** some shit up I'd launch at 5500 and leave off the line sideways and hard..

I've never tried launching under 5k because I always fear the worst for my differential.. But with the way it's been spinning the tires I'll either have to see what kind of throttle I can give to get better results or launch lower and stay planted in the gas department..

I'll never feather my clutch.. I actually like not smelling it..
