Imagine how the force of the strap will act when you tow. It will be pulled downward vs forward Not sure if the bumper support has the kind of strength in that direction

It'll be pulled in reverse not forward, is the way I see it. Since it's wrapping around the bumper, there will also be a twisting moment as you're towing. I think it'll work fine and is how I plan to reconfigure mine (I just played with mine and couldn't get the buckle to stay put without it rotating around). I would drill a new hole more towards the front of the beam so that they'll be more meat when its being pulled in reverse.

Drilled a hole a little more forward:


Found some grade 10 hardware in my bin


Looks to have enough support behind the hole
