Default VAFC or Header?

So i have been searching on vafc's and have found they give a good bit of hp with tuning, but i cant find if the people making these gains are already running I/H/E, or what mods they have.

right now i have a K&N intake, and my Feel's exhaust is on the way, should i get a header first or will my gains through VAFC tuning be about the same with and without a aftermarket header?

seems like the hp/tq gains from bolting on a header arent worth the money

thanks in advance!

If you aren't getting an expensive header (mugen, Js, tracy sports or Toda) then a VAFC will be far and away better for the money. Also to get the most out a header you need a VAFC. So get the VAFC first.

I would get the header first and then the VAFC. saves you a trip to the tuner

get the cheap megan header if you aren't jdm whoring (i hear it actually makes decent power) and maybe you'll have money left over for the vafc, or better yet, e-manage blue

if i wer you i'd get both. pick up a cheap header like the Megan (that is supposed to make good power) and wait around for a good deal on a VAFC2 for cheap. VAFC2s are always for sale and typically go for about $120 without the wiring harness.

okay, thanks guys, yea a header/vafc combo sounds like a good idea, i just didnt know if people were getting these gains with JUST a VAFC.

two more ?'s .

So i read all about harness's and special jumper harnesses for using the vafc, whats that all about? i have put 3 vafc's in for people and never herd of buying a harness,i just tap/splice them as neccesary. Is there something special about the s2k's that require a harness??????

And, i have always used the VAFC-II, is there any advantage over getting the II over the I ???? i have never even played with a VAFC-I, reason i ask is because a friend of mine will give me his VAFC-I for 50 dollars im just woindering if i should just wait and get a VAFC-II or will the vafc-I do everything i want.

it's just for people who don't feel like splicing the wires. since you can do that yourself, the harness would be a waste of $150.

The VAFC I is fine...the power difference between a I and II is insignificant.

Honestly, I would forgo the header...they really don't make that much power...the oem header is very good. Take that money you save and instead of a VAFC go directly for an AEM EMS. The difference is huge. You would probably would see more from the EMS alone than you would out of the header + VAFC.
