Default Variable Wiper Blade Stalk

On occasion I've been disappointed with the speed of my intermittent wipers, and usually just flip the stalk manually when I think it's neccessary; the other settings are usually far too quick and drive me crazy. I found this image some time ago, and I'd like to persue the possibility of a modification like this.

I found the image on this page: http://www.podio.co.jp/podio_parts_s2000_wiper.htm unfortunately, my Japanese is horrible and the online translators really are no help.

Clearly this is a product somebody is selling, but by the looks of the stalk, it appears that it could be a factory unit off of another model. I'd like to try and find one off a USDM vehicle (so that it's on the correct side for a LHD car) and try to wire it myself.

I'm hoping somebody is an expert on Honda interiors and recognizes this piece. Thanks for any help.

The paragraph basically says what the description of the part is (with a minor spelling mistake) and say "this item is for you if you think the wiper is too fast and sometimes you have to do it manually." $100 for a wiper control unit, with installation fee of about $50. Hmm it seems like it's only available in Japan?

I've seen online vendors who sell Podio parts, so I'm sure somebody can source it Stateside, but for a LHD car, the stalk would need to be on the right side of the steering column. Unless they sell a RHD and LHD version, I don't think buying it works.

The part is actually an official S2000 Honda Access part available in Japan. It is not shown on the current JDM Access website but it is shown in the JDM Access catalogue. The part number is 08V63-S2A-000. The price is listed as 5250 Yen (about $50) but my catalogue was issued in 2007 so it may have changed. The installation time is quoted as 0.5 hours so it should not be too involved.

UKDM RHD S2ks have the wiper stalk on the right hand side but JDM S2ks have the wiper stalk on the left hand side the same as USDM; so the stalk should work for you guys.

HTH

Chris.

My wiper stalk is on the right hand side of the steering column..

Thank you for the information, though! I'll look into it.

Aus RHD wiper stalks are mounted on the left of the steering wheel.

ohh, my mistake. I thought they were on the left.

In that case the JDM stalk will not work on USDM cars.

Thanks for the information Chris. It is indeed a Honda Access Japan part:

I haven't found it anywhere else yet. Doesn't look like it's offered for LHD. That's a shame.

It looks like any of the other variable intermittent wiper stalks from the Honda/Acura parts bin.

I've personally seen them in TSXs and some Civics.
