yeah iwas thinking the same thing. a slight upward roll on the front of each vent should have the same effect. i think that's the same thing Spoon did on their hood. if i had the vented OEM hood i'd rather try to get the existing metal rolled as opposed to adding a reverse scoop because it'd look much cleaner. if you could get someone with experience to heat/roll it for you...
yeah I thought about that too...I was hoping the process would be similar to rolling fenders..its actually posted for sale in the mid-a forum...but I may keep it and try some new fabrication things with it
If using the existing metal to form the "lip" for lack of a better word, you would have wanted to cut the hole smaller than the final product to allow for shaping/folding over to get a clean finished product.

You? Calendar? Yes, that was way cool of you!!! Sam and Carmen are very nice.
But Suzuka?!
Damn, another moment. I remember sooooo much, but seem to forget the all details!
Are you planning to go to WTD? If so, I hope we can meet up, and swap lies.
As for the custom mod hood - about the only way it could be done would be to do a 30/70 split of the cutout - forming the 70% portion of the back downward and bending the front 30% up slightly - then get the fibergalss cloth, epoxy glass and body tools out to finish off the edges. At that point you do a reality check, scrap your OEM hood and buy a vented hood. The reverse hood scoup idea likely will not work and it would look like a JC Whitney special. If you want to mod the hood, get a body man to roll the metal and feather the edges in. It will cost a bundle, but it would be a one-of-a-kind, and thats not all bad, especially if it is functional. IMHO

Although this would be the year to do WTD again, I am opting out. I get a ticket every year I go there, even if it's a non-moving violation. And I get them in Abingdon County in VA.
Sadly, the progression of my car car from show/track/DD car has evolved to the point of being almost singularly track. Long trips on the forthcoming revalved shocks/stiffer springs in a race bucket is good for neither the car nor my aging body. Looks like N.E.R.D.Racing and CDC, local autox group, will be hosting a track day April 21st. The track is just off I-81. Maybe you should consider it on your way back from the Dragon.

I hear ya on the Virginia Police issue - Big ass fines and bad attitude towards radar detectors. Thats why I usually do the West Virginia route - lots of curves, few if any Smokies. And I have always wondered how you "younguns" tolerated the ride in a track car on long trips! There is a way to get around that - get a trailer and a Ridgeline (I'm a Honda fan). That way you can still help the drinking team with their racing problem!
I'll keep the track day in mind for the trip back - you just never know, but last year I was driving in snow, and thats no fun! on the track or anywhere else!
