Default Why do lug nuts fade?

Can some please tell me why after paying $100+ on colored lug nuts (i.e. Works, Rays, etc), they end up fading? I have a set of red Works lug nuts and they are pretty much pink now!

I would assume it has something to do with the heat build up when driving. They can get pretty hot sometimes.. but thats a wild guess.

Brake dust and the sun. Red tends to be the worst color to fade from what I've seen.

anodizing will fade when expose to sun and nature. Black is usually the most durable color.

That's why I chose black.

Been half a year, still great.

Yes I need to put my fenderliner on soon.

oem chrome nuts will not fit tapered seat for most aftermarket nut, and some of the rims requires tuner/small spindle nuts
