Default Will a Header make rasp from TP increase/decrease/stay same?

For those that have an aftermarket Header, TP, and exhaust....did the addition of the header change the rasp you experienced with just the TP?

I have an Invidia Q300 V3 and just installed a Invidia 70mm TP. I like it, but definitely is very raspy. If I added a Header, would that help bring down the rasp, is that gonna increase it, or do nothing in terms of rasp?

Thanks!

My setup:

PLM header -> 63MM TP -> Spoon N1 single

With the addition of the header, I didn't notice any increase in rasp. However, valve noise has increased significantly.

Does the added addition of the valve noise or the overall tone change you experienced when adding the header - make the rasp less obvious or concerning?

The valve noise is only apparent when at idle or from taking from a dead stop.

I installed my test pipe before I installed the header, and I noticed a fair amount of rasp building up after 4k when I installed the TP. A few months later, I received the header and could hardly notice any tone difference in the exhaust. I would say rasp may have increased a small percentage, but not enough for me to notice, and my hearing is rather good. Keep in mind, that aftermarket headers may have different results, depending on the pipe bends and collector size.

The only effective way to reduce the rasp is to get a High flow cat. The HP gains won't be anywhere near as good compared to TP, though.

I am planning on getting a video clip of my exhaust soon. I'll share it with you as soon as I get it up.

FYI....I just ran out and bought some exhaust wrap and wrapped up the TP and part of the Invidia Exhaust. It didn't make a night and day difference, but it definitely made a difference.

The difference was definitely worth the money/time spent getting the wrap and ties and wrapping the TP. I'm quite happy actually...so anyone wanting to reduce the raspiness of their TP...definitely worthwhile giving this a try.

I may even go out and get more wrap and see if double/triple wrapping the TP and part of the exhaust will make even more of a difference.

Clever. I will have to give this a shot. Where did you buy your wrap from?

I got it from Pepboys...They had the Wrap and ties. It was the bigger size packaging and was around $45.

I think the answer to your original question is dependant on if the header you buy flows better or worse than the stock one. If it flows worse then reason would say it would be less raspy because raspy is the sound of a unmuffled, unrestricted motor.
