Thumbs down Would like your feedback on harnesses!

What influences your purchase of belts/harnesses?

Quality? Brand name? Style/Design? Popularity?

What kind of belts do you have currently and what do you like/dislike about them?

Please be as descriptive as possible.

Any/all input is GREATLY appreciated!!

the first you want to make sure is the mounting geometry, dont just mount one and forget it, there's alot safety rule as to how to mount harness. you can break your neck if you are in an accident with a faulty harness location.

the old one i had was a 4 point sparco bucket lock(90buck), the hardware is superb, you can tell the quality of sparco just be holding one in your hand. I only used it on track in my old car(with harness bar). it's okay for what it is, it felt weird with my stock seat(which was what i had at the time) for some reason.

it's pointless on the street, you cant shift your shoulder to check blind spot, you can adjust your radio with one.

The main point of getting feedback is not actually to purchase a harness but I am getting one made. I work for Simpson Racing and if the belt we make comes out nice, we are thinking of marketing it to the Japanese "Import" scene.

So Im just trying to see what the general public feels is important....

Your input helped!! Sparco does have nice stuff.... So what about design/color/camlock? Any input on that?

Christina, quality, camlock, color and design is what I look for in a harness. Brand name is not a big deal, however, how they incorporate their logo into the harness does have its merit. Also ease of removal, ie unbolting it or unhooking it, is something that i consider also.

With me it was mainly how it worked with my HANS. Comfort with the sub straps was also a factor, which is I why I installed a Schroth Hybrid six-point HANS-specific harness in my car. I liked the two-inch lap belt better than the three-inch, and I think it's a safer design. And five-point belts don't work in the S2000 because there is a beam running under the floor that is in the wrong place for installing a central sub strap.

That being said, anybody who installs any harness in an S2000 without a roll bar or genuine race seat is an idiot.
