Default Header and Test Pipe/Highflow Cat.

I don't want an exhaust put on my car but maybe a slight increase in power and sound. Basically I don't want to attract too many 20 year old kids to my car and I swore I would never put an exhaust on the S2000 years ago before I got one.
Now say I buy a Header, and a Test Pipe will there be any performance gains with the stock mufflers? I would assume the exhaust note would be louder but it wouldn't drone or get annoying driving at 65 MPH on the highway? Once again all feedback is appreciated whether positive or negative. Thanks again guys!

im not sure about the header, but I recently just installed a 63mm test pipe on a stock 06....i would say a test pipe is going to be the best bang for the buck as far as performance goes. I havnt noticed the smell to be that strong and I can only smell it when I am at a stand still. as far as sound goes it might be a tad bit deeper but nothing noticeable and around 3.5k rpm it can get raspy at times if you give to much gas.

A header and test pipe will make a big difference on the car if you tune them with Hondata Flash Pro. You will absolutely want to tune your car with those mods. People have reported that without tuning a dbw s2k that has the aftermarket mods you are considering, you run the risk of being too lean and potentially having engine damage.

Drone comes from aftermarket exhausts, not aftermarket header and test pipe/hfc.

Excellent thanks!! I will be getting a header and test pipe along with Hondata and probably the PRM Intake. That should satisfy my power/sound needs. Sound system, springs and wheels/tires then the car is done.. Excellent! Thanks guys!

with flashpro it will allow you to run the toda calibration with vtec at 4.1k so there is nice gain down low also

just found out I live down the street from a Hondata dealer and I work at a honda dealer w/ access to aftermarket parts for wholesale prices, got my oem car cover for 150 today.. Hopefully picking up a 92 Accord EX this week for the winter so I don't have to drive on cold streets w/ salt and gravel anymore..

I would expect a power gain from the test-pipe but maybe not so much from the header. The OEM exhaust would just hold it back.

Get the test pipe and FlashPro first. The gains from a header will be much less significant, especially considering the price. Most headers don't even make any real gains.

Here is a graph showing my car totally stock (red), stock with Hondata's "Tuned" calibration (blue), and a custom tune with just a test pipe (green). The test pipe made it to where I could achieve gains in VTEC all the way down to 3500 RPMs.

Here is another plot from an "S2000 club dyno day" a couple weeks ago. My car just had a test pipe, PWJDM intake, larger injectors, and a custom FlashPro tune. The 2 AP2's under mine each had a CAI, Header, TP, and 70mm exhausts.

Can one really benefit from just Header/TP/Flashpro? Seems like this will bottle neck without an exhaust. Though I am interested in this setup since an exhaust is not my thing.

You should make gains from a test-pipe but you will see minimal gains at best with a header paired with the OEM exhaust.

This is what I think the restrictions are in the OEM exhaust(in order).
cat
mufflers
single into dual piping
piping size

I got rid of all of these with my set-up and believe me, their's a lot more power.
