ps...the tuner told me there was really nothing to gain from
exhaust change in regards to performance....unless your goal
is to change the sound of your S or to reduce some weight
considering the OEM exhaust is (relatively)heavy.
This is false. What he said holds true for small exhausts. But I can tell you a 3" manifold back makes power untuned, I've felt it.

Everything after the collector is a restriction.

I don't remember saying what mods you had. What were your peak numbers? Without pulling out my work laptop to see which plot yours actually was (I can't tell from the colors), I can't tell if you were in the upper pack or lower pack.

Those are great results considering the minimal
"bolt-on"!

I'm considering a program from a tuner........
1). custom fab header
2). custom fab test-pipe
3). K N filter
4). flashpro tune
5). dyno tune/paperwork etc.

Shows AP2 at 236whp and 170lb.ft. which are higher than
the results of your car....this tune I would reach "stock"
AP2 max HP at 6200rpm and "stock" max torque at 3500.

Of course your low-end torque numbers are awesome and match
this program's they along with HP just don't top out as high.

I'm still consideroing the cost to play.....$1800. tune etc.
of just get 4.44 gears built/installed for $1300.

Of course together they would be great but I'd rather go one
or the other and use cash for CR springs/sways/dampers
It isn't clear what you mean by "program", but it sounds like some tuner has given you a sales pitch for some custom "package" that he's derived with his own dyno numbers to back it up. If so, run away! There are very few headers that make more power than stock, so if he's claiming to have designed one of his own that makes power, he's most probably lying his ass off.

It's also important to know that every dyno reads differently. The fact that my car dyno'ed 224 on this dyno does NOT mean that it makes less power than another car that dyno'ed 234 on another dyno.

This is just a guess, but I bet he's talking about the same shop that did the work for this guy: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...&#entry19849236

The locals seem to have faith in the shop.

That thread was a disaster, full of misinformation. We all know that there's no performance gains from Mobil 1 oil or K&N Drop-in filters, and I don't know of any reports that any Hondata reflash provided significant gains in peak numbers.

After reading my post again about the club dyno day results, I guess you thought I was referring to your car as one of the other AP2's with I/H/TP/E. I was actually referring to the 2 plots directly under mine (Dave and Zo).

BTW, I tested a 70mm single against my modified stock exhaust, and posted a thread about it. I found zero difference in performance.

I'm not looking to "confront" you....myself and others
have enjoyed all the testing/applications you have done and then
reported...but there seems to be a bit of contradiction here.

In your 70mm thread you stated that you did have gains over
OEM with your T1R header...and you also went on to say the OEM
header was tuned for VTEC at 5500 and not capable at a
lowered VTEC window.

I asked the tuner about my concerns for his header and he said
I could go without custom fab header but he felt this wouldn't
allow his tune to fully acheive my goal of increased torque at
lower RPM levels.

I'm guessing as well....this tune has to adversely affect MPG's
which was addressed negatively when discussing lowering final
drive gears.
