Default Idle problem

Hi

I have a s2k from 2000 AP1 and the idle is only good in cool start and when you run normally the car does not have idle....
I run the car only once or two in one month but I cannot understand what the car have...

If you run the car in a long trip and now and then make some high rpms in the middle of the trip the idle will be ok , and you do not have more problems....
When you drive it next day the problem show up again....

Any idea/help for my problem?

Thanks

Remove and clean the throttlebody and IACV. You probably have both of them clogged with dust, oil/grease, and etc. Cleaning those two items alone will fix majority of the idling issue. Because the car sits for a long period of time, you might have a weak battery. Another suggestion I could make is to use a fuel injector cleaner or Seafoam. By now, the injectors are probably fouled up with carbon buildup.

i have 2002 s2000, i have had the screws come loose on the idle air control valve before which can cause i idle issue and high rpm miss-fire.

If I am reading this correct, the car runs fine at cold start and when you drive it hard. If that is so, I would suspect an o2 sensor going bad even if it doesnt have a code for it. The car doesnt use the o2 sensor in open loop (cold start) or at WOT. Maybe look into that.
