2.2 i think is about 280-300 whp, more wtq,

It's basically a bore + head work + J's pistons and Toda cams. Those numbers are not whp, they are flywheel or crank hp.

well my biggest question is can they rev up quickly, can they rev high and how are those engines so good that they need a standalone ECU
abcvtec that is pretty good info thank you. when you mean cams do you mean gears or shafts?

Camshafts at least. Not sure about the gears. They need the custom ECUs because it's a custom build. With all of the work done there's no way a stock ECU could run it.

They don't require a standalone. It says it is recommended that you run the J's ECU. You could possibly get by with an e-manage ultimate depending on what else you have going on with the engine (i.e. ITBs, FI, etc.) -- although I don't see the point of running a regular intake setup on a $10k crate engine.

Come to think of it, I don't see the point of running a V-AFC on a $10k crate engine, either. If you were buying this engine, a true standalone (say a Hondata) with tune would still cost you about 25% of what you're spending on the engine. Common sense.

Even the stock car with the most basic boltons benefits immensely from a standalone.
