Default Mugen Header

Is a mugen header much better than a stock header..??

Im running a mugen ap2 cat back exhaust and was contemplating a mugen manifold but is it much better than a stock manifold.?

Im happy enough with the noise levels from the cat back system. If i put a mugen manifold on will the noise levels increase much.?

imo, mugen is just extra price. i know there are plenty of less expensive headers with just the same if not better benefits... i like berk, good price, ceramic coated, sounds good aswell

Headers don't really change the exhaust sound. They also are not going to make any significant power unless you're running forced induction. The only ones that make even a tiny amount of power N/A are expensive - and require an EMS tune to bring out what little potential they have

Headers can totally change the sound of the exhaust, but it shouldn't make it louder.

I don't know about this. Hypothetically, what if you're running a 70mm header back exhaust, then switch to something that has a 70mm collector? Seems to me that it would be louder.

An EMS is required to see the real potential of any part, not just headers.

I doubt the sound level from a 60 mm collector would be any different from a 70 mm collector. It wouldn't be the same as a 60 mm muffler vs 70 mm muffler.

Mark (MugenRioS2K) has the dyno plots in his sig from where he installed the Mugen header. It has gains, but not that much.

I would have thought myself that it would add to the noise levels as the mugen header would give you better flow on the air going out and there for increase the noise levels but ever so slightly...

I guess if a header increases torque by 3%, then it would probably also increase noise by 3%. Of course, the human ear has a very non-linear response to sound level. What sounds like 200% is really more like 800%.
