well let me ask you this and be honest. if you were the mechanic doing free work would you work as hard if you were doing it for free and would you pay attention to detail as much as if you were getting paid to do it. Money is a strong motivator for people. because if he is as good of a mechanic as you say he is his hourly rates will be close to $100 hr. doing what you want done is a (if i can remember correctly) a 14.5 hr job. your taking $1,450 out of his pocket. so there is 2 days maybe 1 and a half days without any money to pay for utilities, electricity, and shop space rental which would come out to $2500 a week so you would just be killing your friends business and getting him in debt.
plus we all say that that he may not have the equipment for this job because it takes a carbon coating for the sleeves. ask any shop that knows about F20's and F22's they will all tell you that the sleeves will need to be re carbon coated. these engines are so meticulous that you cant take any short cuts. if you do you are setting yourself up for a catastrophic failure and possibly a new engine. just do it right and send it to a shop that knows these engines because they will have the proper equipment. you will win in the long run believe me i already made the mistake once and i will never do it again
